In this article we introduce the new features &ldquo;Parameters&rdquo; and &ldquo;Data Control&rdquo; and show how you can use them to improve your reports.<\/span><b>Data control widgets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(German: controls) can make your reports more flexible and user-friendly. By integrating<\/span><b>parameters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You also give users the opportunity to directly influence the reporting.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>parameter<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">User-defined parameters have been around for BigQuery for a long time. Since last week, they can also be used for standard accounts for Google Analytics reports. How you can use the parameters in the new data control filters for interactive dashboards is described in the next sections.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Data Control<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until recently, data control meant either filter or date. Since last week there are also new features that bring Data Studio to the same level of flexibility as custom reports in GA:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17714\" src=\"https:\/\/e-dialog.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Data-Control-Steuerelemente.png\" alt=\"Data Control Steuerelemente\" width=\"206\" height=\"376\"><\/p>\n<h3><b>1. Input field<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With input fields you improve the user experience of your reports; it becomes much easier for users to search for relevant fields. For the first time, it is now possible to influence dashboards as a user.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the &ldquo;slider&rdquo; control has been selected, you can define the already created conversion rate parameter as a forecast value and thereby make it editable for users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17706\" src=\"https:\/\/e-dialog.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Conversion-Rate-Forecast.gif\" alt=\"Conversion Rate Forecast\" width=\"800\" height=\"344\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two custom parameters have been created for this dashboard (Conversion Rate Forecast and additional<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Traffic forecast<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and defined the following calculated field:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sales Forec<\/span><\/i><i>ast =<\/i><i>&oslash; Order value * Sessions * conversion rate forecast * traffic forecast<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This allows the effects based on the sales data from the last period<\/span>an increase in conversion rate or traffic volume.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These approximate values &#8203;&#8203;can of course be replaced by more comprehensive formulas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Tip:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parameters can also be used for benchmarks:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17707\" src=\"https:\/\/e-dialog.group\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Demo-Controls-Benchmark.gif\" alt=\"Demo Controls Benchmark\" width=\"800\" height=\"506\"><\/p>\n<h3><b>3. Especially in combination with BigQuery, the results are extreme<strong>many options for action<\/strong>, to<strong>data-driven insights<\/strong>to democratize in companies. Exploratory analyzes become possible at a lower threshold without the colleagues having to deal with SQL or BigQuery; the report creation remains with experts like you! The new features make Data Studio a lot better<strong>more flexible<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>P.S.
