Are Good Performances Automatically Recognized

Management Summary

The personalization of messages – crucial for the success of digital campaigns – can also be useful for our (professional) lives. How we talk about successes often determines whether they or we are noticed in the abundance of news. Factors such as age, gender, origin, prejudices and stereotypes also play a role in perception. This has an impact on self-perception and professional and social advancement. This applies to us, but also to our colleagues and employees. Companies that strengthen employees' self-promotion with initiatives benefit in the long term from strengthened cohesion and motivation within the team.

e-dialog attaches great importance to integrative and transparent communication within the team. Since not everyone likes to be in the spotlight to talk about their own achievements and successes, e-dialog offers various initiatives to support everyone individually. In keeping with the company motto by people for people. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we are presenting our current focus initiatives on employee empowerment, reflection and physical and mental strengthening in this blog article.

The #BreakTheBias initiative for the Int. Women’s Day 2022 stands for a gender-equal world, free from prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equal and inclusive. A world where differences are honored and celebrated. As a team, we live these values and are proud that we have established them in our corporate and leadership culture.

Make successes visible

We are all remarkable beings. Often we don’t even notice this or at least we don’t talk about it openly. Our everyday lives are fast-paced and many things we do are taken for granted. The danger with this “functioning” mode is that successes and good performances become invisible and lose meaning. What a shame! Because that should be an inspiration, something strange!

For many people, talking about what they have achieved means overcoming major hurdles. Different backgrounds, such as age, gender, origin, etc. can play a role. The fact is that good performance alone does not speak for itself. According to research, those who rely on it are often overlooked.

So if you’ve worked on a project, achieved a goal or achieved some other achievement – why not talk about it? At e-dialog, we encourage our employees to speak confidently about their own successes and to share them with the team.

Working on self-marketing

Like many other talents, self-marketing needs to be practiced. We are creating more awareness of this topic with #IamRemarkable.#IamRemarkableis a Google initiative designed to encourage women and underrepresented groups to confidently share their achievements in the workplace and beyond. The offer is aimed at anyone who wants to work on their own self-marketing. How we can share successes and good achievements with others is trained in the #IamRemarkable workshop. “I give my colleagues some tools to further develop their ability to market themselves. This is just a first step; in order to stick with it, further activities are needed.

We want to stay on the ball and establish components of the workshop in our everyday company life, thereby providing the stage for recognition of our achievements. Examples of this are regular exchanges with the team, such as our Friday Exchange, where we share our highlights of the week and also talk about great customer feedback.

Strong corporate culture through strong personalities

Encouraging employees to express their achievements brings immense benefits to the company. It increases the motivation and self-confidence of individuals, which has a very positive effect on customer advice and relationships. At the same time, corporate culture, team cohesion and integration are strengthened. Building trust promotes integration and improves the quality of internal communication.

Conclusion:

New Work has changed our working world in many ways. On the one hand, the high level of flexibility opens up new possibilities such as 100% remote jobs. On the other hand, hybrid teams with various colleagues working from home place increased demands on internal communication in companies and teams. Talking about successes in particular – often done in small talk and informal situations in the past – needs a stage. In a culture dominated by social media, where it feels like only those who shout loudest are heard, it is important to give everyone in the team the tools to receive due recognition for quality and performance.

Companies that promote the personal development of employees with initiatives like #IamRemarkable are making an investment in their own corporate culture and expanding their own strengths and leadership abilities.
