Baking for a Good Cause: e-dialog Gets Involved in Vienna

For one afternoon, e-dialog traded dashboards for the bakery, learned traditional baking skills from the seniors at Vollpension, and actively supported those in need in the local community.

Instead of laptops and meetings, last week’s agenda featured aprons and mixing bowls: During our corporate volunteering afternoon, we baked traditional Gugelhupf in the bakery at Vienna’s Vollpension and then donated the finished cakes directly to the Caritas emergency shelter “Die Gruft.”

A team event with real added value

For us, corporate volunteering is more than just a term on paper. We want to create opportunities for us to take action together as a team and lend a hand where support is needed. That’s why we spent an afternoon working in the Vollpension bakery instead of our usual office.

Under the patient guidance of a full-time baking grandma, we learned the secrets to making the perfect Austrian Gugelhupf. Away from our screens, we laughed together and shared valuable wisdom passed down through the generations.

Two Initiatives, One Mission

We deliberately chose to combine the “Vollpension” program with “Gruft” so that we could help in two ways with a single initiative. On the one hand, through our team event, we support the “Vollpension” concept, which protects seniors from poverty in old age and social isolation.

For us, however, baking was just the first step: We delivered the finished cakes immediately afterward to “Die Gruft,” the Caritas shelter for homeless people in Vienna. Our goal: to show people in need that we care by giving them a homemade treat and to bring them a little bit of normalcy and joy.

Why Community Engagement Is Important to Us

We believe that genuine solidarity and a tangible contribution to society go hand in hand:

  • Taking Action Together: True team spirit emerges above all when we roll up our sleeves and work together toward a common goal.
  • Openness and curiosity: We love learning new things. Instead of focusing on new tools or data analysis, this time it was all about craftsmanship and the valuable experiences of another generation.
  • Targeted support: Small gestures often have a big impact. It was important to us that our help reach the people who need it directly and without any detours.

Initiatives like these demonstrate what defines the culture at e-dialog: working together, learning from one another, and taking responsibility—both in our day-to-day work and beyond.
